OCULUS TOUCH
THE ASK
Oculus Touch allows a fully immersive experience. The movement of the users hand matches the movement in VR. With this seamless possibility, Oculus needed launch videos that would emphasize the sense of touch.
OCULUS TOUCH 2
THE CONCEPT
Every movement of the hand is tracked and accurate. The controller is exceptionally responsive. In addition, what the player sees in VR can be shared with friends and family on monitors and TVs. Based on how the VR world and real-world are able to connect, the team at We Are Royale created a campaign consisting of a video that brings the two worlds together, a piece that showed a user immersed in the experience, and one that explains the capabilities.

MY ROLE
For all three jobs, I art directed, designed, and worked with multiple teams. Working with creative leads, I made sure the CG looked great and the comp team merged live-action with CG seamlessly. Based on existing VR games, I directed the look and feel of our VR worlds. To support the team, I designed comp frames as visual targets and graphics wherever they were needed. I developed the look of type call-outs and the UI. Towards the end of the process, I worked with the colorist to make sure all shots looked great together.
THE OUTCOME
There was an enormous amount of CG comped into live-action, and we created three different spots that highlighted the experience of touch in various ways. Through the body of work, it was exciting to share out the possibilities of enjoying one’s immersive VR experience with friends and family.
